Making New Year’s Resolutions

Resolutions are something you decide or commit to do (or not to do). The New Year is a time when many people try to break their bad habits and create new ones.

15 Common New Year’s Resolutions:

  1. Lose weight
  2. Get in shape or physically fit
  3. Stop smoking
  4. Stop eating junk food
  5. Get out of debt
  6. Spend more time with family or friends
  7. Get organized
  8. Learn something new (like English!)
  9. Help others
  10. Drink less alcohol
  11. Spend less money
  12. Get a new job/Start a new career
  13. Get more sleep/rest
  14. Stop procrastinating
  15. Get better at something (like knitting, snowboarding or cooking)

Making your New Year’s Resolutions a Success:

  1. Make a plan.

Know how you plan to meet your resolution and create good habits. What will you do each day, week or month to reach your goal?

  1. Make sure it is a measurable goal.

Examples: Lose weight- How much? How? What are you going to change? Try to make your resolutions specific.

  1. Celebrate the small success.

Take each resolution day by day. Try to meet small goals along the way.

  9. Pass/Study for the TOFEL or IELTS Exams.
